Ayurvedic Treatment For
Piles At HiiMS (Jeena Sikho) Hospital

Piles, also known as hemorrhoids, are swollen veins in the rectum and anus that can cause discomfort, itching, pain, and bleeding. Ayurveda categorizes piles into three types based on the predominant dosha: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, each presenting with distinct symptoms. The condition is believed to result from chronic constipation, dietary habits, and lifestyle choices that lead to an imbalance of the doshas, particularly Vata dosha, causing digestive issues and leading to the formation of piles.

Piles Causes

  • Excessive Bleeding: Chronic blood loss from haemorrhoids can lead toanaemia, characterised by fatigue and weakness due to decreased red blood cells or haemoglobin.
  • Infection: Damaged or irritated piles can become infected, leading to increased pain, swelling, and pus discharge.
  • Strangulation: If the blood supply to an internal hemorrhoid is cut off, it can lead to severe pain and sometimes an infection.
  • Thrombosis: When a blood clot forms inside an external hemorrhoid, it can result in a thrombosed hemorrhoid, which causes severe swelling, inflammation, and intense pain.
  • Skin Tags: Following the healing of thrombosed haemorrhoid, excess skin may remain, leading to hygiene issues and irritation.
  • Anal Fissure:Frequent straining during bowel movements associated with haemorrhoids can cause tears in the anus called fissures, which are painfuland may bleed.
  • Fecal Incontinence: Long-standing and severe hemorrhoids can lead to difficulty in controlling bowel movements, resulting in leakage of stool.
