What is Asthma?

  • Asthma is a chronic lung condition that affects the airways, making it difficult for air to move in and out of the lungs.
  • It occurs when the airways become inflamed, swollen, and produce excess mucus, which can block airflow and make breathing harder.
  • This condition leads to common asthma symptoms such as coughing, wheezing (a whistling sound while exhaling), chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
  • Asthma can affect people of all ages, and although it cannot be completely cured, it can be effectively managed with proper therapies and lifestyle adjustments.
  • If left uncontrolled, asthma can impact daily activities and quality of life, but with consistent care, individuals can lead active and healthy lives.
