Cholesterol, is a type of fat that your body needs to function properly. Having too much cholesterol in your blood can raise the risk of heart disease, strokes, and other health issues. High cholesterol is a common problem among individuals who have diabetes. In simple words, high cholesterol is a condition in which you have too many lipids or fats in your blood. It is also known as hyperlipidemia or hypercholesterolemia.

Cholesterol Causes

  • Smoking and tobacco: Smoking can lower your good cholesterol and raise your bad cholesterol.
  • Stress: Stress triggers hormonal changes that can lead to the production of cholesterol.
  • Drinking alcohol: Drinking too much alcohol in your body can raise your total cholesterol.
  • No physical activities: Physical activity such as aerobic exercise improves your cholesterol levels. If you sit for a longer time in office work or sit a lot in your free time, your body does not produce enough good cholesterol.
  • Diet:  Some foods may raise the level of cholesterol

  • Left-sided chest pain

Cholestrol Causes

  • Stroke: Stroke is a condition in which blood cannot flow properly to the brain causing cell death.
  • High blood pressure: High blood pressure, is a long-term medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is persistently elevated.
  • Heart attack: This problem occurs when blood flow decreases in one of the coronary arteries of the heart.
  • Headache: It can occur as a migraine, tension-type headache, or cluster headache. There is an increased risk of depression in those with severe headaches.
  • Kidney disease: Renal disease is damage to or disease of a kidney. Nephritis is an inflammatory kidney disease and has several types according to the location of the inflammation.
  • Chest pain (angina): If cholesterol is not managed properly, it can cause angina.
